Saving water at home
Summary
How much water does your home save each month by changing the shower head, tap and toilet cistern and fixing a dripping tap? New values from the regulation, old ones from the Ministry guide; in lira too in the 47 provinces with a verified tariff.
Water you will save each month
The saving is worked out from the times and appliance values you entered; it is not a meter reading.
Where do the new values come from?
Shower and tap: Planlı Alanlar İmar Yönetmeliği, article 57/A, paragraph 2 (added by the Official Gazette of 25 February 2022, issue 31761), on the flow limits of washbasin, sink and shower taps; quoted in Turkish:
(2) Su tasarrufunun sağlanması amacıyla lavabo ve eviyelerde 6 lt/dk'yı, duşlarda ise 8 lt/dk'yı geçmeyecek şekilde musluk veya batarya kullanılması, bunların sıhhi tesisat projesi ve mahal listesinde gösterilmesi esastır.

Calculation: formula and lira30 days a month · lowest tariff band
- Shower: (current flow − 8) litres a minute × minutes per person per day × number of people × 30 days ÷ 1,000 = m³ a month.
- Tap: (current flow − 6) litres a minute × minutes per person per day × number of people × 30 ÷ 1,000.
- Cistern: (current volume − 4) litres × flushes per person per day × number of people × 30 ÷ 1,000.
- Dripping tap: number of taps × 12,500 litres ÷ 12 months ÷ 1,000.
- Dishes: 30 litres a day × 30 ÷ 1,000.
- Lira: m³ saved a month × the water charge of the lowest band in the household tariff of your province's water utility. The wastewater charge, taxes and band differences are not added, so the figure is a lower bound. In a province without a verified tariff only m³ is shown. Tariffs: verified 25 October 2026; details on the page Is my bill normal? (Turkish).
